2018 Summer event details

Below are a sampling of what we have planned for this coming Summer Season for the Norfolk Farmers Market.  We would love to have additional vendors come forward with demonstrations of their crafts or additional ideas. If you are interested please contact Mary Jo Tomaselli at mjtomaselli@charter.net. We are promoting all our events through social media.

Tracy Hayhurst - Formerly of the Chubby Bunny Farm and now farm manager at Husky Meadows, Tracy will be hosting a number of Cook the Market food demonstrations during the 2018 Summer season (see dates). She, as well as our additional guest chefs, will be using meats and poultry and currently available produce from our Norfolk Farmers Market vendors.

Amanda Glover - Chef of Amanda Bakes will be at the Norfolk Farmers Market on July 14th for a Cook the Market demonstration. She recently published a cook book titled Sweetie: Bake Your Day: Sweet and Savory Baked Goods Anyone Can Make. “Sweetie” is the moniker of her Airstream trailer food truck.  Amanda and Sweetie travel to markets and farms throughout the Litchfield Hills selling delicious breakfasts, desserts, savory and gluten-free baked goods.

Terry Walters - Author of three best-selling cookbooks, “Eat Clean, Live Well”, “Clean Food” and “Clean Start” returns to the Norfolk Farmers Market August 25th for a cooking demonstration.  A well-known holistic health counselor, food educator, and motivational speaker, she serves on the Board of Directors for Urban Oaks Organic Farm, one of the largest urban organic farms in the country.

Leslie Watkins - Connecticut Master Gardener, Leslie holds a certificate in horticulture from Northwestern Connecticut Community College. She will be at a number of markets (see dates) to answer garden questions. Leslie owns and maintains Dandelion Cottage. Her garden design illustrations have been published in Rodale's "Perennial Combinations", and in magazines including Fine Gardening, Horticulture, Kitchen Gardener, and in The New York Times. She writes a regular column appearing in Norfolk Now

Dog’s Day -  This event last year was well attended by our “furry” friends. We are planning Dog’s Day this year on July 28th. Dog treat vendors are welcomed. Additional dog related plans include the Little Guild of St. Francis for dog adoptions and Pet Valu from the Ledgebrook Mall. We wish to highlight pictures of our regular market dogs in the lead up to Dog’s Day. Send in your photos!

Kid’s Day - This special event is planned August 11th. The Kid’s Play Children’s Museum will be there. The NW YMCA will be sending a certified trainer. Plans are in progress for Kid’s events. Craft projects for kids are in the works as well.

Weekend-in-Norfolk (WIN) -  Launches the week-end of August 4th. Food demonstrations and sampling with Tracy Hayhurst, Face Painting with the Early Learning Center and craft projects with Karen Rossi are planned. Ask the Gardner will be there. There will be live music as usual.
