| Norfolk’s objective is to establish a permanent
farmers market with a wide variety of locally produced offerings that
will draw consumers from a broad area, to thereby increase profits for
producers that are already established and to create an outlet for
small producers that otherwise might not be able to reach consumers
directly. As side effects, we hope to encourage producers to diversify
and test the profitability of specialty items, and to generally
encourage local agriculture and handicrafts.
The steering committee sets policies and
manages publicity, and its members take turns attending the markets.
The manager recruits vendors and handles the operations of each market,
reporting to and advising the steering committee.
